Every Season Here Has Its Own Beauty

fall colors in Illinois

Fall colors here are still good.  Color did not peak until last weekend and there are still lots of leaves on the trees.  There is a month and two weeks left of fall.  On December 21st winter officially begins. It's true that every season has it's own special beauty here. We are one of the great places to stay and view fall colors!

We're hoping that we have snow this winter.  We didn't get a lot of rain this summer so we really need snow.  If it does snow we have cross country skiing in Matthiessen State Park.  Hopefully the river will freeze this year and eagles will abound and gather at the dam to feed. You can see the Eagles by hiking up to the upper levels at Starved Rock State Park. The dam is down below and affords a birds eye view of the eagles feeding.  You can also see them from the Illinois Waterway Visitor Center on Dee Bennett Road.

If you call us at 815-667-4600 and mention that you read this blog you can get a BOGO deal now thru April 30th.  Any room and any night except Saturday. Black out dates do apply.  They are December 24th thru January 1st, January 19th, and February 14th and 16th of 2018.
