Well, I'd say we are still at peak colors and the colors will remain fantastic through to next week!  So I went about the property taking some pictures hither and dither, it's nice to finally have some full sun to make all those colors really pop!  With the sun on me and it being a beautiful 64 degrees, I had to actually take my sweatshirt off.  I just looked up the 10 day forecast and the weather looks spectacular as well.  It looks like we'll be having an Indian summer this weekend with temperatures in the low 70's and clear skies!!  I don't know about you, but my idea of perfect weather is when you need a sweatshirt in the morning, short sleeves in the afternoon and then you need your sweatshirt in the evening again.Matthiessen Meadows Matthiessen Meadow Matthiessen Meadow Matthiessen Meadow

With the good weather, you can take advantage of something interesting going on at Starved Rock.  This Saturday the 25th, they'll be having a Haunted Trail at the Rock.   Don’t miss a rare chance to hike to the top of Starved Rock at night!  On Saturday, October 25th (from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.) you can hike the luminary lit trail to the top of Starved Rock while listening to “ghostly” fun stories and meet ‘The Pink Lady’.  Following hikes, enjoy storytelling with local storyteller Bill Myers.  Hikes will leave from the Starved Rock Visitor Center at 5:00 p.m. & 6:00 p.m. each lasting one hour.  Storytelling will start at 7:00 p.m. and last one hour.    Program is free! For more information contact the Starved Rock Visitor Center at 815-667-4906 or email them at

Although that might be fun by itself, the real reason you want to come down here is to just get away.  Get your mind lost in the beautiful colors of nature and forget about life for awhile.  Let us help you RELAX! Come on!  The weather is PERFECT!!
