Fall meadow. This is a picture of Matthiessen State Park, which is 2 minutes south of Starved Rock State Park. The picture was taken this morning from the balcony of the Aspen Suite, which is on the third floor of the Brightwood Inn.   We are fortunate to be surrounded on three sides by Matthiessen. You can see the colors starting to turn!  The bales of hay are provided by LD.  He mows our land 3 or 4 times a year and we just love the bales, especially in the fall.  We are all decorated for fall and the inn just looks great this time of year.

There are very few rooms available on the upcoming weekends. That's OK because  I know that everyone likes to take a day off during the week! Here's what is available on the weekends: Aspen, Friday, October 11th, Mallory Square, Friday October 18th, Mackinac, Friday October 25th and Aspen, Fri and Sat Oct 25th and 26th.  That's it folks, 5 rooms on a Friday or a Saturday. Each night comes with a delicious, hot, made from scratch breakfast for two the next morning.  We have free wi-fi, free parking, complimentary RO water for your hike, and complimentary sodas and homemade cookies.

Fall colors are really starting to pop and the weather could not be better for a drive and / or a hike.  There are many great places to have lunch or dinner.  Starved Rock State Park has a wonderful patio where you can sit, have lunch and a drink while enjoying the beautiful vista from the comfort of your very own seat.  You don't have to hike unless you choose to.  Please call us at 815-667-4600 to book your room. Feel free to call us if you have any questions.  Our office is open from 8am to 6pm.  See you soon!
