Ahhhh. Spring has finally sprung! The fresh air smells so good!!

For Valentine's weekend, we will be featuring Lemon Ricotta Crepes with a Triple Berry Compote and a Pancetta, Spinach Frittata with Home style potatoes.

Just finished up our "Breakfast at Brennan's, Brightwood style" menu, for this Mardis Gras weekend. Stay hungry my friends!

Saturday Morning
Cherries Jubilee Crepes
Delicate Crepes stuffed with a cream cheese mixture then topped with Cherries Jubilee. Comes with a side of bacon.

Creole Skillet Bake
Andoullie Sausage with red onion, green bell pepper, tomatoes and redskin potatoes sautéed in a skillet then, baked together with eggs mild Cajun spices and topped with cheddar cheese. Comes with a side of Wheat Toast.

Sunday Morning
Bananas Foster French Toast
Custard like French Toast Casserole topped with sautéed bananas and caramelized brown sugar. Comes with a side of bacon.

Eggs Hussarde
Toasted English Muffins with a slice of ham topped with a Marchand de vin (red wine mushroom sauce), then a poached egg and then finally Hollandaise sauce.

EAGLE WEEKEND AT STARVED ROCK STATE PARK
This weekend is eagle weekend. It’s going to be well attended by eagles this year as it’s so cold our snowman is begging us to bring him inside! The eagles congregate, in abundance, near the dam to feed when the rivers, lakes and ponds freeze up. You can see hundreds of eagles in one day.

Starved Rock State Park will be having their annual Birds of Prey Show at the Illinois Waterway Visitors Center. If you’ve never seen the show it is quite impressive. It’s also very well attended every year.

We can send you out to see a couple of very large eagle nests. They are occupied this time of year. It’s very likely you will get to see the eaglets. Eagles pairs stay together until one or the other dies. They go back to the same nests each year. We’ve read that they increase the size of the nests, and they can be as large as 6 feet in diameter. Now that’s a nest!

We have some rooms available. We have hot tubs, gas fireplaces, really comfy beds, and beautiful views of the prairie and Matthiessen State Park.

I&M Canal bike path. One of the best in Illinois.

The majority of the trees are just starting to turn now. Everyday seeing a little more color here and there. But once the start turning, they go fast!! So maybe another 5 days or so till peak. The unusual warm weather is probably holding it back. This Monday and Tuesday in the 80's!!!
